Relay-trekking, fifteen days in four parks

Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise

L'AQUILA, JUNE 26 – It depated yesterday the fifteen days relay- trekking cross that passes by the Sibillini National Park and reaches the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, passing through the national parks of the Gran Sasso-Laga and Majella and is organized by Mountain Wilderness Italy, with the CTS collaboration, to raise the problem of the marginalization of national parks and supporting their importance as engines of a new economic development. "Four hundred thousand steps to the national parks" is the name of also created to give new momentum to the proposal to include the whole complex of protected natural areas of Abruzzo in the list of World Heritage of UNESCO. Details were presented at the headquarters of the Parco dei Monti Sibillini, in Visso (Macerata) by Oliviero Olivieri, Chairman of the Park, Carlo Alberto Graziani, first president of the same Park, Carlo Alberto Pinelli, president of Mountain Wilderness, Mario Marano Viola , Head Mountain Wilderness Abruzzo, and Serena Arduini, trekkista throughout the period. Mountain Wilderness was founded in 1987 as an international environmental movement; among its members mountaineers from around the world. Each participant in the Relay will join in all the way or choose the sectors they prefer. Each group of walkers, crossed the border of the park, will give the next group a witness in the form of traveling staff decorated with a chamois head in wood, sculpture made of cornel wood for the occasion by Gino Damiani, artist and operator the Park Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga. ceramic commemorative plaques will be posted at the entrances of each site where the participants will stay. The routes will try to highlight the most fascinating natural features of each park along with historical and cultural features.
